Key Responsibilities

  • Apply complex paint systems including metallic, high-gloss, specialty, and multi-coat finishes on aircraft structures and components.

  • Perform surface preparation activities including sanding, masking, taping, priming, and application of multi-stage coatings and clear coats.

  • Operate and maintain advanced spray equipment, HVLP systems, air-assisted spray systems, and other specialized painting tools.

  • Perform touch-ups, refinishing, blending, and feathering techniques to achieve seamless finishes.

  • Mix, match, and adjust paint colors, tints, and coatings to meet specified appearance and performance requirements.

  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, work instructions, paint specifications, and safety documentation.

  • Conduct inspections and quality control checks to verify compliance with customer, company, and regulatory standards.

  • Troubleshoot painting process issues and implement corrective actions as required.

  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment while following hazardous material handling and disposal procedures.

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, and process efficiency.

  • Provide guidance and mentoring to less-experienced painters when required.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 4–6 years of aircraft painting experience with advanced coating systems and specialty finishes.

  • Proven experience with color matching, paint mixing, and application of complex paint systems.

  • Proficiency with advanced spray equipment, paint mixing systems, and coating measurement tools.

  • Strong understanding of paint chemistry, environmental effects on coatings, and curing processes.

  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and work instructions.

  • Knowledge of quality inspection methods, acceptance criteria, and documentation requirements.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

  • Commitment to safety, environmental compliance, and quality standards.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Technical certification in coatings, painting, or a related field.

  • Familiarity with aviation painting standards, FAA regulations, and aerospace manufacturing environments.

  • Experience training or mentoring junior painters.

  • Experience performing quality inspections and process audits.

Education / Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Technical certificate in coatings, painting, or a related field preferred.

  • Minimum 4–6 years of aircraft painting experience with advanced finishes and coating systems.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, bend, crouch, climb, and work in confined spaces for extended periods.

  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (respirators, gloves, coveralls, and safety equipment).

  • Ability to lift and handle painting materials and equipment within company guidelines.

  • Comfortable working in environments involving exposure to paints, solvents, and airborne particulates
