Location: Frimley
Duration: 12 months – ongoing
Role Type: Hybrid – 3 days onsite

Salary: Around £45 an hour, depending on experience
 

Overview:

Our globally renowned aerospace client is seeking an experienced Compliance Verification Engineer – Avionics to join its growing EASA Modifications team based in Frimley, Surrey. Working within a Part 21 Design Organisation environment, the successful candidate will support the design, certification, and delivery of complex aircraft modification programmes for commercial airline customers worldwide.

The role focuses on ensuring compliance with EASA airworthiness regulations, leading electrical and avionics design activities, supporting certification programmes, and delivering engineering solutions for large-scale aircraft modification projects. The position offers the opportunity to work across international engineering teams while supporting innovative commercial aviation programmes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support electrical and avionics engineering activities for aircraft modification programmes, ensuring compliance with customer, regulatory, and company requirements.
  • Develop technical solutions and provide engineering support for electrical and avionics system integration across complex aircraft modifications.
  • Manage and support certification activities, including regulatory compliance assessments and on-aircraft testing activities.
  • Produce, review, and approve engineering documentation including wiring diagrams, installation drawings, harness designs, and modification instructions.
  • Develop Instructions for Continued Airworthiness (ICA) documentation, service bulletins, and aircraft maintenance manual supplements.
  • Prepare and review certification evidence including electrical load analyses, test plans, test reports, compliance statements, system safety assessments, equipment qualification reports, EWIS documentation, and certification plans.
  • Work closely with global engineering teams, customers, suppliers, and certification authorities throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Represent the client at technical reviews, customer meetings, Preliminary Design Reviews (PDR), Critical Design Reviews (CDR), First Article Inspections (FAI), and programme milestone activities.
  • Provide technical support during aircraft embodiment and modification implementation phases.
  • Support and mentor junior engineers while contributing to the continued development of engineering best practice within the organisation.
  • Travel occasionally within the UK and internationally to support customers, suppliers, and project teams.

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering, Avionics Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Current or recent experience within an EASA Part 21J Design Organisation or equivalent aerospace design environment.
  • Strong knowledge of EASA airworthiness and certification regulations including CS-25, FAR-25, JAR-25, and ETSO requirements relevant to electrical and avionics systems.
  • Experience supporting aircraft electrical, avionics, cabin interior, or aircraft modification programmes.
  • Proven experience working on large, complex aerospace engineering or aircraft modification projects.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously within a fast-paced engineering environment.
  • Strong technical documentation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience using OEM engineering systems, specifications, standards, and technical data repositories.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary and international teams.
  • Previous or current EASA Compliance Verification Engineer (CVE) approval within electrical, avionics, or software disciplines would be highly advantageous.
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality, integrity, regulatory compliance, and engineering excellence.
