Duration: 12 months
Role Type: Hybrid – 3 days onsite
Salary: Around £60 – depending on experience
 

About the Role:
Our globally renowned aerospace is seeking a Business Analyst, IT / Software, to work closely with business teams to identify, define, and manage requirements for technology-driven solutions.

The Business Analyst will act as the primary link between business stakeholders and IT delivery teams, ensuring that technical solutions are fully aligned with organisational needs. This role requires the ability to build strong relationships, communicate effectively at all levels, and facilitate collaboration between technical and non-technical audiences. The successful candidate will be confident, proactive, and experienced in working within a matrix environment.

The client’s business unit supports a wide range of business functions, including Finance, HR, Engineering, Supply Chain, Programme Management, and Operations. The Business Analyst will be expected to analyse requirements and define IT solutions across these diverse areas. Occasional travel within the UK will be required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage with stakeholders to elicit, analyse, and document clear and comprehensive business requirements.
  • Translate business needs into functional specifications, user stories, and solution designs.
  • Conduct gap analysis, feasibility studies, and impact assessments to inform decision-making.
  • Facilitate workshops, interviews, and review sessions to validate requirements and proposed solutions.
  • Work closely with project managers and IT teams to ensure accurate implementation of requirements.
  • Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT), including test case creation, coordination, and documentation of outcomes.
  • Contribute to the development of training materials and user documentation.
  • Track project progress and support scope control, risk mitigation, and issue resolution.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and recommend appropriate technology solutions.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation throughout the project lifecycle.

Education and Experience:

  • Degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • Significant experience (typically 5+ years) working as an IT Business Analyst.
  • Strong knowledge of business analysis methodologies, tools, and best practice.
  • Proven experience in requirements gathering, process modelling, and documentation.
  • Good understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile delivery methods.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proficiency in tools such as JIRA, Confluence, and MS Visio.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capability.
  • Ability to operate effectively with both business and technical teams.
  • Preferable knowledge of supply chain, procurement, engineering, finance, asset management, maintenance, or support environments.
  • High standard of written communication.

Desirable Skills and Experience:

  • Experience with Sparx Enterprise Architect and DOORs.
  • Development of Use Cases and UML modelling.
  • Broad understanding of IT management, including applications, infrastructure, project delivery, and supplier management.
  • Experience within the Defence sector.
  • Knowledge of ITAR, Official-Sensitive, and export-controlled data handling.
  • Experience with enterprise systems such as Oracle, SAP, GOLDesp, TeamCentre Multisite, and SharePoint.
  • Experience working within a large, complex, multinational matrix organisation, as well as within small teams.

 

Additional Information:

  • The successful candidate must be able to obtain and maintain the required security clearance.
