Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate obsolete electrical and electronic components and identify suitable replacement or alternate parts.
- Conduct proactive obsolescence forecasting and monitoring using predictive obsolescence tools, supplier surveys, and component monitoring systems.
- Research and analyze electronic components including resistors, capacitors, diodes, inductors, transformers, connectors, and integrated circuits.
- Develop obsolescence mitigation strategies and business case analyses to support recommended solutions.
- Support engineering teams in identifying, assessing, and mitigating obsolescence risks across new and legacy products.
- Review aircraft and weapons system requirements to recommend alternate electrical components.
- Assist in preparing customer deliverables, program reports, and obsolescence management plans.
- Support project planning, scheduling, risk management, and execution activities related to obsolescence programs.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams, suppliers, customers, and stakeholders to implement obsolescence solutions.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to multidisciplinary teams.
- Evaluate impacts of scope changes and support resource, cost, and schedule planning.
- Support proposal development, cost estimation, and program execution activities.
- Develop risk mitigation plans and monitor project performance against established objectives.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, or a related technical discipline.
- 9+ years of related engineering experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong knowledge of electronic components and the ability to research alternate parts using datasheets and technical resources.
- Experience evaluating obsolete components and implementing obsolescence mitigation strategies.
- Experience managing obsolescence management projects.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and technical writing skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, cross-functional environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience supporting aerospace, defense, military, or weapons system programs.
- Familiarity with predictive obsolescence tools and lifecycle management processes.
- Experience leading technical teams and coordinating multiple stakeholders.
- Knowledge of aircraft systems, weapons systems, and electronic hardware design.
Education / Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or Chemistry (e.g., Bachelor's degree) and typically 9 or more years of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g., Master's degree with 7+ years of experience or PhD with 4+ years of experience). ABET accreditation is preferred, but not required.
